  • We’re a neuroaffirming, trauma-informed behaviour support and psychology service based across Australia, incuding regional and remote areas. We also support clients across metro areas and via telehealth.

We're proudly autistic-led and shaped by real lived experience.

  • Our services are available 8am-7pm Monday Friday and some of our clinicians also work 10am-3pm time Saturdays or Sundays.

  • We work with a variety of adults and children with different abilities.

This can include neurodivergent children, teens, and adults, including people with Autism, ADHD, PDA, intellectual disability, and psychosocial disability.

We also support people with a forensic history or correctional involvement.

We also support families, carers, and support teams.

  • We offer Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), therapeutic supports, and early intervention. We also provide staff training, school or home visits, and help navigating the NDIS. Everything we do is tailored to the individual, no cookie-cutter plans here!

  • Yes! We’re a mobile service. We come to where life is happening: whether that’s home, school, the park, or online.

  • Yes, we’re registered for behaviour support, therapeutic supports, and early childhood intervention. We can work with both plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants.

  • Yes! If you are already funded by the NDIS, you may be able to claim our services depending on the goals and funding in your plan.

Therapy in The Outback is a Registered NDIS provider for the following groups:

    Early Childhood Intervention
    Therapeutic Supports
    Specialist Positive Behaviour Support

If you are not yet an NDIS participant and are looking for support navigating this process, we may be able to help by providing you with a developmental assessment.

If you are looking for support with a diagnosis - please be aware that the NDIS do not typically cover diagnostic testing.

Our diagnostic services are private paid only, and not claimable from medicare, or private health funds.

  • No big waitlists here ! Our team is small, so availability depends on your location and what kind of support you’re after. We’ll always be upfront and let you know timeframes.

  • Not at all. Early Intervention can be provided to any child for whom you may have a concern about.

  • Absolutely. We don’t believe in changing who someone is: our role is to understand behaviour in context and support people in ways that feel safe, respectful, and empowering.

  • We’ve lived it. Many of our team members are neurodivergent, have been support workers or family carers, and know what it feels like to be on the other side of the system. We don’t just follow checklists: we build real connections and do what works in the real world.

  • Some support needs require specialised services, from other allied health professionals such as a speech therapist or occupational therapist - such as muscular or spinal concerns, swallowing concerns, or feeding concerns.

Our psychology team are equipped to provide mental health services, but we do not administer or prescribe any medication. This requires the ongoing support of a psychiatrist or general practitioner.

We are also not a crisis, or counselling service. Whilst we support caregivers through consultation and psychology services, we are not able to provide on call support, or emergency support.

If you or a loved one require emergency support, please call 000. If you are looking for emergency mental health care and treatment from a NSW Health mental health service, you can call the NSW Health Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511.
